Joy on Birthing Waters

A Song of Gratitude

Communion with Nature has always been a sanctuary for our family, and particularly through this season in quarantine.

In a moment of deep gratitude this song flowed through me the other day. I recorded an edited version (yes, it’s a long and lovely 12 minutes but this is the short version) and combined it with recent photos I took of beautiful Nature and family.

As we all have, I have been on a journey with all that’s going on in the world. Journeying with continuing my life’s path of service and work and perpetual learning. Growing through changes and new shifts in consciousness.
While in the bath one night, I sang about joy and pleasure and gratitude for over 20 minutes which initiated a spontaneous dreamtime journey within my body:
Picture
A sleepy coiled Snake of Shakti awakened, generating chi as the Jaguar that was nestled intertwined with the snake licked the snake’s body to help it birth and release! Like mother cats and dogs do to help their newborns let go of waste. The baby snakes descended, freed into the river of birthing waters, while the ascending mama dissipated into the toroidal fountain flow. As the babies grew, they spiraled up and into my crown, and cyclically descended into the waters, each one birthing even more chi into the flow around and through me.

Feeling myself surrendering to singing this song was profound. I connected with my voice and body -and my medicine- in a subtle new way. Years ago, I was given the medicine name, “Woman Who Runs With Song” by my teacher Irma Starspirit Turtlewoman as a result of a healing I facilitated in class during which I used my voice. Singing this song of gratitude connected me with a deeper level of that healing medicine as I felt this vibration awaken and felt the clearing of subtle blocks dissolving from my throat and pelvis. As I sang, I felt the subtle energies flowing, descending and awakening anew.

I felt the surrender given to receive.

In that spirit, I am sharing what I recall of this epic song. May the flow of these waters be a healing balm for your soul, too, and encourage your voice to express your healing truth.
These are some of the lyrics from the full length original version:

I used to sing
I used to sing,
“I got a right to sing...”
I got a right to sing...

I used to sing,
“I got a right to sing the blues.”
Now I sing the joy
And gratitude...

Gratitude for these beautiful souls.
I am grateful for these beautiful souls.
Grateful for a walk in the woods...
With my daughters.

I am grateful for the sun on a cold, cold day.
I feel gratitude for this earth and this breath...
For the flow of these waters.
Grateful for this cold day for getting me into these heated waters.

I used to sing the blues
I have known such pain and sorrow
I’m grateful for this pleasure
I feel gratitude I now sing the joy

I got a right to sing.
I got a right to sing
Even though I know the blues
I got a right to sing the joy.

To feel this pleasure.
I’m so grateful for the life
And these beautiful souls
This breath to sing.

And Spirit.
And the spirits of nature.
I am so grateful.
I am grateful for you, ancestors.

Thank you for guiding me here,
for protecting me all these years.
Thank you, spirt, for holding my hand through all the blues...
of the hard, cold, dark and lonely world.
I’m so grateful to you, guardians.

The skin beneath these wounds
used to be so afraid
of the pain
of air and water.

These scabs are dissolving
In the flow of birthing waters.
I feel grateful.
I feel the pleasure of this bliss.

I used to sing the blues.
I had a right to sing the blues.
Mm-mm.

Now I feel the right to sing
Of simple pleasures.
Now I sing the joy.
Mm-mm...

Grateful for this these beautiful souls and Spirit.
A walk in the woods on a sunny cold day.
I got a right to sing.
I got a right to sing of joy.

??☀️??❤️

And so do you.
