I was asked by my friend, Jana Johnson (www.janajohnsonhealingworks.com), to share an offering for a compilation of healing, nervous system calming tools she would be sharing with her clients. After doing so I decided to share it here as well. May we all help each other to remain healthy and full of life, now and always.
May all beings be peaceful, healthy and joyful, and free from suffering. Let us commune with the healing vibrations the plants offer us...
During the first 19 minutes of the following longer video, I share with you a few herbal remedies I've use for my family over the past 11 years or so, some insight from a brilliant herbalist and teacher, Guido Masé and I reiterate well-known allopathic recommendations for remaining healthy:
Guided drum journey begins at 19:20.
The healthier and more at peace you are, the more resilient your immune system will be to combat any illness.
Here are my personal recommendations, from one mother to another (I draw upon the information I've learned over the years as a caregiving mother referencing midwife herbalist Aviva Romm's, Naturally Healthy for Babies and Children, and various books for holistic health and wellbeing, and my more recent studies of herbalism, as well as the recommendations of trained herbalists such as Guido Masé) for general immune support for you and your family: Herbal Tea Thyme, Oregano, Peppermint, Rosemary, Sage, Lemon Balm, Ginger Rose, Lavendar, Milky Oats, Catnip Use these antibacterial, antiviral, antimicrobial, heart-nurturing and nervous-system-calming herbs either fresh or dry, either alone or in combination. Steep in hot water for 20 minutes or overnight for a stronger potency. You can also pour hot water over the herbs a second or third time after straining. Serve with raw honey to support and soothe your whole being. My kids love it! (These teas will not prevent you from catching the coronavirus but may help to minimize the length of illness if you do become ill). Herbal Bath The same herbs can be infused for a calming healing bath. Boil herbs in water for an hour and then strain. Pour hot infusion into a bath and commune with the healing medicine these plants have to offer you. Hand Sanitizer (this well-known recipe was recently shared by Guido Masé during a class he taught through Botanic Wise.com and you can find variations of it online) Two parts 91% isopropyl alcohol or above 180 proof ethanol alcohol One part aloe vera gel You can also mix in additional antibacterial/antiviral oils or add essential oils to improve scent. Benchmark Thyme is recommended and is gentle on the skin: www.benchmark-thyme.com/benchmark-thyme/ NOTE: Guido Masé advises, if you usually use elderberry syrup regularly at this time of year or at the onset of the flu you may want to hold off on Elderberry for the time being as it will aggravate the immune system response and possibly hinder recovery from the physical conditions caused by COVID-19. He recommends adding astragalus and medicinal mushrooms such as reishi for immune system support. Ask an herbalist and research more about these.
The best practices to remain healthy are to eat well (lots of nutrient rich veggies - raw and steamed, cut back on sugar), sleep well, move your body in mindful invigorating ways and stay hydrated with herbal teas.
To keep our at-risk population safer and avoid the spread of illness and in particular this coronavirus:
May our evolution be in Love and for the good of all. We thank our ancestors and guides for their love and support.
Disclaimer: I am not an herbalist, nor do I prescribe remedies. I share with you what I have done for my family to inspire you to research and inquire about alternative ways you can help your body function optimally, working with your doctor and the current recommendations of traditional allopathic medicine. Always consult your doctor or trained herbalist before taking anything you are not familiar with. Do not attempt to diagnose yourself or your children if you are not trained to do so.
